Gueses await their evenings entertainment

On Saturday 16th February 2008, Islamic Relief organised a hugely successful fundraising dinner in aid of the charity’s Gaza Emergency Appeal. Held at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford, the event raised a staggering total of just under £54,000!

Gaza Appeal
IR needs £5 million in order to continue to provide food and nutrition and health and shelter facilities in the areas most affected by the crisis. Urgent drugs and other medical items are being supplied to hospitals and primary health care clinics in coordination with the World Health Organisation (WHO)

Organised in only 14 days, the event delivered a blend of entertainment and earth shattering reality as people not only enjoyed themselves, but also reflected upon just how needy some people in the world really are.

Jeff Mirza entertains the crowd

The performers who entertained the 600 strong crowd included Nasheed group ‘Sound of Reason’, and the ever funny comedian, Jeff Mirza.  Free portraits, art and jewellery stalls, and the auctioning of an eclectic range of goods all added to the atmosphere that made this such a successful event.

Although this event was highly successful, Islamic Relief is acutely aware that it must never rest on its laurels and start to admire itself from afar.  There is still a great deal more that Islamic Relief can do to raise more money for some of the neediest people on the planet and it is only with your help, our supporters; that we can do what we are doing.

Emergency in Gaza

The ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza shows that we cannot rest; WE MUST NOT REST! The people of Gaza have endured a suffocating blockade for what must have felt like an eternity until the need to survive led them to break out of their prison. This dinner was for them, but so many people in other parts of the world also need help.
